Our roots run deep

Sunnybank allotments has been an active and cherished part of the Blackburn community for over 40 years. This self-managed site, home to 12 thriving plots, has supported countless members in their gardening endeavours. What began as a simple idea has blossomed into a testament to sustainable living and shared passion.

Cultivating wellbeing and community

At Sunnybank allotments, we believe in nurturing more than just plants. Our ultimate goal is for plot holders to experience a profound sense of wellbeing and a strong community spirit. We provide a space where you can connect with nature, de-stress, and share knowledge and laughter with like-minded individuals. It’s a place for growth, both personal and horticultural.

A friendly, intimate atmosphere

Despite its small size, Sunnybank allotments boasts an exceptionally friendly and welcoming atmosphere. We pride ourselves on the strong bonds formed between our plot holders, creating a supportive environment where everyone feels at home. We want every member to enjoy a peaceful, cooperative space where gardening skills are shared, and friendships flourish.

"For us, having a garden plot means having organic vegetables and fruit, as well as a place to relax. It's also a field to acquire new skills and knowledge about growing your own food. For a beginner, having a garden and greenhouse is incredibly enriching. Every vegetable or fruit makes us very happy because it's a kind of success, right?”
